Sa Canterella is one of the reasons we all come to Spain. A roadside retreat just outside of the traditional mountain village of Tàrbena, it combines a terraced restaurant which opens from Autumn through to Spring and a swimming pool and bar area perfect for the summer months.
A family-run establishment for decades, it is now overseen by Pako and his wife, Lola. A regular stop for cyclists who are either powering their way up from the coast or freewheeling their way down having ascended the Coll de Rates peak.
The food is superb, especially local favourite sobrassada con miel. Whether you decide to stop for a refreshing drink, a bite to eat or to spend the whole day, Pako is a great host. He specialises in a mean Mojito, picking the fresh mint from the garden – one is never enough! If you are staying in the village or just passing through, be sure to call in.
