Font dels Xorros

Cultural Landmark

Barony of Polop, Valencian Community, 03520, Spain

Legend and history converge in Polop’s most famous square. The original 8 water spouts were designed back in 1885, drawing water from the Sirer and Terrer springs. There are now 221 individual outlets where you will see people filling their water bottles or simply sitting to contemplate this idyllic space which is now so central to the town’s identity.

Above the water spouts are a collection of colourful shields displaying the coat of arms belonging to many of the towns in the province of Alicante. It is an altogether charming environment; listening to the gentle sound of water, wrapped up in history and maybe wishing that you had time to stay a little longer.
