If you make it to Polop, you’ve just got to make it to Bar El Castell. A short but steep climb will take you up to the old castle and cemetery where you will also see the statue of Gabriel Miró, an adopted son of Polop and one of Spain’s great writers.
You can order some tapas and a refreshing drink, pull up a chair and take in the panoramic views of Altea, Albir and Calpe as well as the awesome backdrop of a deep blue Mediterranean Sea. You’d happily pay for such a vista, but fortunately it’s free. Just don’t forget to pay for your drink!
