Benidorm’s famous Outdoor Market is on every Wednesday and Sunday from 8am to 2pm, right next to Hotel Pueblo in Rincón de Loix. With well over 200 stalls it is the biggest market in town, and when anyone on holiday tells you to “go to the market”, this is the one they mean.

GETTING THERE
The market sits on the Rincón de Loix side of Levante, right beside Hotel Pueblo. It’s about a 5 to 6 minute walk up from Avenida del Mediterráneo, or 7 to 8 minutes from Levante promenade, so from most Levante hotels you can easily walk it.
Local buses run along Avenida del Mediterráneo into Rincón de Loix, so a bus up from Poniente or the Old Town gets you within a short walk of the market. See our Travel section for routes and tickets. A taxi is a short ride too; just ask for Hotel Pueblo.
WHAT’S ON THE STALLS
Expect row after row of summer clothes, handbags, leather belts and wallets, shoes, sunglasses, jewellery, hats, towels, household bits, toys and Benidorm souvenirs, with the odd stall of colourful Spanish ceramics, flowers and sweets in among them.
A bit of friendly bartering on clothes, bags and leather goods is part of the fun, especially if you’re buying more than one item. Food and small items are usually fixed price.
You will spot logos that look familiar. Selling counterfeit goods is illegal in Spain, and the quality rarely lasts past the flight home, so our advice is to give them a miss.
WEDNESDAY OR SUNDAY, WHEN TO GO
Both days are much the same, though Sundays tend to be busier as more residents join the holidaymakers. Whichever day you choose, go early. By 9am the stalls are set up and the aisles are still comfortable; by late morning it is shoulder to shoulder, and from about 1.30pm traders start packing away.
In summer the heat builds quickly, so take water and a hat. In winter the market is calmer and the morning sun makes it one of the nicest things to do on a Wednesday or Sunday in Benidorm.
KEEP YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU
It’s always busy, so make sure your purse or wallet is under lock and key. Keep bags zipped and in front of you, and phones out of back pockets.
For those of you not overly interested in walking up and down the aisles, there are numerous nearby bars and cafés where you can sit yourself down with a coffee or beer and watch everyone else huff and puff their way round the stalls!
