Open since 1980 and still going strong, La Cava Aragonesa is the reference point for tapas in Benidorm.
Glass-fronted counters showcase over a hundred varieties of cold meats, cheeses and salted fish, and the atmosphere — hanging hams, buzzing crowds, staff working the floor at speed — is exactly what visitors picture when they imagine an authentic Spanish tapas bar.
Yes, people will tell you it’s overpriced, that there’s better value places along Tapas Alley and further afield.
For us, however, La Cava has earned a chapter in the story of Benidorm and a must visit for all newbies.
We’d even go further and say this iconic tapas bar has established its very own legacy!
Expect to spend around €25–35 per head on a generous tapas spread with wine.

Located within the Gastrohotel RH Canfali between Levante and Poniente beaches, D-Vora pairs sweeping Mediterranean views with genuinely creative Mediterranean cooking — think grilled beef tenderloin with truffle, or red tuna tataki.
It’s consistently named among Benidorm’s best by Guía Repsol and a dining destination we feel has hugely helped to elevate the gastronomic experience in Benidorm.
Expect €40–60 per person for a full dinner with wine.
D-Vora, Gastrohotel RH Canfali
7. Ulía · Poniente

Right on the Poniente seafront, Ulía has built its reputation on seafood and rice dishes cooked with real care — cigalas grilled to order, fresh catch of the day, and rice dishes locals specifically travel across town for.
It’s been open for years and we reserve a table more often than not when in resort.
Budget for 60€ per person to include a starter and a shared bottle of wine. Add on another 8€ if you fancy the Apple Tart and Ice Cream – we do!
Restaurante Ulia, Playa de Poniente
8. La Mejillonera · Old Town

A genuine Benidorm institution since 1981, La Mejillonera built its name on mussels prepared a dozen different ways, alongside classic seafood tapas like calamares and patatas bravas.
It’s unpretentious, reasonably priced, and exactly the kind of place locals have kept coming back to for over four decades.
Tucked away just off of the ‘Walking Street’ you will often see a queue waiting to get into the place, so always a good idea to make a reservation.
A full meal with drinks rarely tops 20–25€ per person.
Mussel Heaven – La Mejillonera
9. Ducado · Levante

Set squarely in Rincón de Loix’s brashest, most British stretch of bars and nightclubs, Ducado is the quiet surprise just over the road from Hotel Don Pancho: white-tablecloth service, waiters in shirt and tie, and cooking that has nothing to do with the bars and clubs on the nearby Strip.
The arroz a banda and arroz del señoret are singled out repeatedly by diners, alongside hand-cut ibérico ham and fish cooked to order — salt-crusted, grilled or baked.
But for us, we just cannot stay away from the Lamb Chops!
You’ll be facing a 60€ per person cost for a full seafood meal with wine, and book ahead; it fills fast on a small floor.
We always find it the perfect place to enjoy a final night meal.
